Raising awareness internationally

HPC Wales recently attended the leading international conference on high performance computing, SuperComputing (SC). Held in Seattle, WA, the annual conference attracted more than 5,000 participants, the highest number in the conference’s 24 year history, to share, discuss, and learn about cutting-edge technologies in HPC and related areas.

HPC Wales were delighted to share a stand with Fujitsu, one of 349 exhibitors at the conference. David Craddock, CEO for HPC Wales, and Professor Martyn Guest, Technical Director, gave two presentations highlighting how HPC Wales is leading economic change, raising international interest in collaborative opportunities with HPC Wales.

RIKEN, a collaboration between Fujitsu and the Universities of Tsukuba and Tokyo, were awarded the ACM Gordon Bell Prize for Peak-Performance for the ‘K Computer’, which also retained its number 1 position in the Top 500 supercomputers list.
